What happens if my cholesterol tests high?
A number of factors can influence the result of your test; your doctor may order a second test, most likely one performed after a 12-hour fast. If repeat testing confirms that your cholesterol level is a problem, the doctor may recommend a low-fat diet, weight loss, and exercise, and/or prescribe medication.
